One of my favourite places. The woodland walk at Kew gardens when the bluebells are out. Painted for me by my daughter.
Art in the garden
It's September and we're getting a bit of a heat wave. I spent a rather nice Sunday afternoon in the garden going a few more Alhambra tile patterns.
A 70’s vibe
This is a pattern from the Alhambra. This time I didn't use the original colouring but did my own thing and came out with something very 1970's. I really like it!
Court of the Myrtles
A very contemporary feeling design...and some new paints.
Seeing stars
Another pattern from the Alhambra. This time taken from a ceramic dish. My interpretation ended up being not quite as sharp.
Pattern from the Alhambra
Got hold of another book. 24 Patterns for Drawing the Alhambra, by Manual Martinez Vela. This was my first go.
8 fold pattern
Flushed with some success in my last endeavour, I tried an 8 fold design. From a different source this time.
Practising my watercolours
I'm still trying to get the hang of colouring. This time I used watercolours from a tube. I'm reasonably happy with the result but not quite there yet.
It has been a while…
I've been doing lots of geometric design but I've been less than happy with the results. This is my latest one, which came out a bit more to my liking!
Geometric designs and the RA Sketchclub
I discovered the RA Sketchclub during the pandemic, I discovered Islamic geometric design at the end of last year and I discovered Samira Mian a few weeks ago. This was therefore a happy coming together!
