Returning to geometry

Having a puppy has meant that all things artistic have taken a bit of a back seat this year. Most of the time has been taken up with getting used to the new member of the family.

As she’s now no longer really a puppy, I seem to have more time on my hands so decided to get the compass, ruler and watercolours out and have another go.

My favourite artist, Samira Mian, has recently started selling patterns out of her Patreon sessions. I decided to download a few and give them a go.

The patterns come with a PDF of instructions and a link to the recording of the live session. Trying to follow allong with the session I realise that I would probably never be able to keep up in reality. I have to constantly stop the recording to make sure I’m doing the steps right. I do love the recordings though for hearing Samira’s thought processes and some of the background for the patterns.

I’m out of practice with the painting again but made an OK job of this pattern. It’s the Alcazabar of Malaga, the January 2021 pattern.

I was looking for something I could use for this year’s christmas cards. I didn’t feel I could do this one small enough for cards so I gave another one a go.

This worked out well and feels like the right size for A5 cards so my next step is to trace out a few and get started with the painting.

I think that’ll be this weekend’s task.
