Early days with a puppy

We’re through our first few weeks with our new addition. It’s been an intense time of getting to know each other and settling into routines…which are quite similar to those of having a new baby!

We’ve gone down the route of buying a puppy pen and putting her crate into it. She settled into settling to sleep pretty quickly, we only needed a handful of nights sleeping near her. We are still getting up in the middle of the night to take her out though. We had a minor poo-panic in the first few weeks which involved a trip to the vet and some tests but ultimately turned out to be “dietary indiscretion”. I suspect there might be a lot of that in our lives. There has also been a bit of skirtboard chewing and nibbling of the ends of people’s trousers. Nothing aggressive, it seems playful but definitely something we need to discourage. We’ve done her second vaccination and are now free to wander outside, although the weather is not playing ball.

However, she can go from the serene to the totally deranged in a heartbeat.

We’ll be starting puppy classes soon which we’re looking forward to.
