My daughter has been studying A-Level art over the past couple of years, finishing in June this year. Some of her work appeared in an exhibition in the Half Moon Theatre in Limehouse.

Anna’s paintings of her grandmother’s house. Unfortunately, the lighting means that the photos don’t really do them justice. They’re very personal portraits of a familiar and intimate space…but done in unfamiliar colours.
For one of her final pieces, she made her own enormous canvas and painted her grandmother’s dining room.

Some of the other work in the exhibition, some by Anna’s peers. Lots of talent.

Anna’s work made it into the gallery trail!

Coincidentally, we arrived on the first day of another exhibition at the Half Moon, out in the back “garden”. An exhibition of photos of the local area from 1990-2020…just before the pandemic. It’s an area that has gone through enormous change in that time, most obviously with the construction of the London Docklands. Some things haven’t changed much at all though…including our hairdresser on Roman Road!

The Half Moon Theatre is a fabulous place, right next to Limehouse DLR station. We used to take the kids to shows there when they were really small and I’d kind of forgotten about it as they grew older. Fabulous building and lovely space.
