After quite a tense start to my macrame career, I managed to get the hang of it a bit and I soon had the various required lengths to start putting together my pot holder.

Hanging the strands from a handle on a cupboard seemed to be the best way of working with the strands that I’d made.

The instructions were pretty clear but I found I had a tendency to make things too tight, like my first wrap knot, I couldn’t pull the ends through and had to undo and try again!
I got there in the end though.
I was doing this on a Saturday and for some reason decided to put Radio 4 on while I was doing it.

It was all quite straightforward really. However, I wasn’t terribly consistent with my lengths when making some of the knots and so things came out a little wonky. I found it quite difficult to judge where exactly a knot would sit and therefore wasn’t as neat as I wanted to be.
Never mind. I got there and finished off with another wrap knot….remembering not (or knot) to be so tight this time!

I tried it out with a plant I have already in a plastic pot and it worked fine. This plant is quite bushy and it actually obscures the pot and the macrame so I probably won’t be using it.
I now need to get on with making one of my Wobbly Pots to go in the plant holder. I thought it best to make the holder first so I can adjust the pot as necessary as I make it.
That’s the plan anyway.
