The William Morris gallery in Walthamstow is an easy visit from where I live. We took a trip out in that odd period between christmas and new year.

It’s a pretty lovely building set off on its own. We were lucky to have a nice day and some very lovely light.

William Morris patterns are very recognisable and I have to admit I’ve never been a fan in terms of them for home furnishings. They are amazing though and it was interesting to be able to study them more closely as individual pieces of work. I was drawn to the simpler patterns and bolder colours…especially those on tiles.

There was also some beautiful stained glass with just amazing colours.

A selection of beautiful prints. William Morris became a Marxist and hated the ugliness of capitalism.
